The short version
Verne is free, open-source software you download and run yourself. Your use, modification, and redistribution of it are governed by its open-source license. We run no hosted service, hold no account, and provide the software as-is. You are responsible for how you use it.
The software and its license
Verne is licensed under the GNU General Public License v3.0. That license, not this page, governs your right to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software, including its requirement to share source for derivative works. Where anything here appears to conflict with the GPL, thelicense wins.
No accounts or hosted services
We provide a download you run yourself, with no service behind it. There is no account to create, no server we run on your behalf, and no subscription. We make no promise that downloads or the website will stay available, and we may change or discontinue them at any time.
Your responsibilities
You are responsible for how you use Verne and for the agents, code, and commands you run inside it. Use it in line with the law and with the terms of any third-party tool you connect. Do not use it to harm others or to violate someone else's rights.
Third-party tools and services
Verne is a workspace for tools you supply, such as AI agents and the services behind them. Those tools carry their own terms and pricing, and we are not a party to your agreement with their providers. We are not responsible for what a third-party agent does with your code or for the output it produces.
No warranty
The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. You run it at your own risk, as set out in full in the GPL-3.0 license.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Verne maintainers and contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the software, including lost data, lost work, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Trademarks
The open-source license covers the code. It does not grant rights to the Verne name or logo, which remain ours. You may state that your project uses or builds on Verne, but do not imply that we endorse it without our permission.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the project evolves. When we do, we will revise the date above. Continuing to use Verne after a change means you accept the updated terms.
