The short version
Verne is open-source software you download and run on your own machine. We run no servers that hold your data, we ask for no account, and your code, terminals, and agent activity stay on your computer. This website measures traffic with a cookieless analytics tool that collects no personal data.
The Verne app
Verne is a desktop application. Everything you do in it runs locally on your machine. We operate no backend that receives your files, projects, prompts, or agent output, so there is nothing for us to store, sell, or hand over.
- No account. You download the app and use it. We never ask you to sign up or log in.
- No telemetry to us. The app sends no usage data, crash reports, or analytics back to Verne.
- Your work stays local. Code, terminals, notes, and diffs live on your machine, not on our servers.
Third-party services you connect to
Verne is a workspace for tools you choose to run. When you point it at an AI agent such as Claude Code or Codex, your prompts and code go to that provider under their privacy policy, not ours. The same applies when the app fetches a release or update from GitHub. We have no visibility into those exchanges; review each provider's policy to understand how they handle your data.
Website analytics
This website uses Rybbit, an open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool, to understand which pages people visit. It is built to need no cookie banner because it stores nothing on your device and identifies no individual:
- No cookies. Nothing is written to your browser, so there is no consent prompt.
- No personal data. We never collect names, emails, or anything that identifies you.
- No cross-site tracking. Your visit is not followed across other websites or sold to anyone.
- Aggregate only. We see counts like page views and referrers, never a profile of you.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct, or delete. If you believe otherwise, or have any question about your privacy, write to us and we will look into it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the website or app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will also land in theproject repository.
